English Alfredo Alves Reinado, ex-major of F-FDTL and a rebel, conceded this interview in December of 2007. A few months later he was to be shot dead in a botched attempt against President Ramos-Horta at the later’s residence in Metiaut – Dili’s outskirts. Alfredo’s real intention is yet to be understood and there are a number of theories out there. This assault by Alfredo Reinado also coincided with another attack against the de facto Prime Minister, Mr. Jose Alexandre Gusmao (JAG) at Balibar, also in the outskirts of Dili. The circumstances of this attack is still unclear, even the attack itself, as JAG himself testified, has been widely dismissed as pure invention.

A few days ago the defacto PM, JAG, said through a TVTL broadcast that he is unhappy with the constant reference to Alfredo’s video. Even in Dili people are somewhat afraid about this video, to watch it or to distribute it.
